SHASTA VALLEY ENTERPRISE ZONE BENEFITS;
1.Up to 100% Net Operating Loss carry-forward for 15 years.
2.Firms can earn $26,894 or more in state tax credits for each qualified employee.
3.Corporations can earn sales tax credits on purchases of $20 million per year of qualified machinery and/or parts.
4.Up-front expensing of certain depreciable property.
5.Lenders to Zone businesses may receive a net interest deduction.
6.Unused tax credits can be applied to future tax years, stretching out the benefits of the initial investment.

I. LOCATION

The city of Yreka is located 660 miles north of Los Angeles and 320 miles north of San Francisco.It lies 333 miles south of Portland, 214 miles south of Eugene and is just 22 miles south of the Oregon California border.At an elevation of 2600 feet, the City of Yreka covers 12 square miles.

V. INDUSTRIAL SITES

There are 983 acres in the city limits zoned for light and heavy industry; about 69% is vacant and available in parcels ranging in size from lots to 100 acre parcels. Included in this acreage total is 1 industrial park. The terrain is level to gently sloping. Drainage is good and the subsoil is gravel/hardpan, piling is not required.

VI. WATER SUPPLY

SUPPLIER: City of Yreka, 701 Fourth Street, 841-2386

Maximum pumping capacity is 10 million gal/day. Average consumption is 2.3mg/d with a cost of $.86 per 1,000 gallons. Water service charge is $14.51 min/month. To set-up service, you must go to City Hall at 701 Fourth Street with picture identification. There will be a $25 set-up fee. Water mains range in size from 8 to 24 inches.

VII. SEWER SERVICE

SUPPLIER: City of Yreka, 701 Fourth Street, 841-2386

Sewer plant capacity is 1 million gal/day with a peak flow of 3 million gal/day. Service charge is $16.96 min/month. This is a secondary treatment plant with no facilities for non-recoverable industrial waste water.

VIII. UTILITIES

ELECTRIC POWER: Pacific Power & Light Co., P.O. Box 248, 888-221-7070. PP&L sells residential electricity at a rate of 7.6 to 8.9 cents per kilowatt hour.  For other rates, contact the PP&L Office.

IX. GOVERNMENT FACILITIES

B. The Yreka Police Department consists of 15 officers,11 civilian employees, 5 reserves, and 1 detective. A DARE Program is run through the department and any other information can be obtained by calling them directly at 841-2300. See this link for more info www.yrekachamber.com/ypd.htm.

C. The Yreka Fire Department is strictly volunteer and consists of a 28 member crew operating 5 pumps, 1 aerial unit and 1 utility vehicle..

X. TAX & INSURANCE RATES

All property - residential, commercial, and industrial - is appraised at full market value as it existed on March 1, 1975 with increases limited to a maximum of 2% annually. Property created or sold since March 1, 1975 will bear full cash value as of the time created or sold, plus the 2% annual increase.  The basic tax rate is $1.00 per $100 appraised/taxable value, plus any taxes levied or cover bonded indebtedness for county, city, school, or other taxing agencies. Appraised valuation and tax rates are published annually after July 1.

Siskiyou County is 5.2 times larger than the state of Rhode Island and is the fifth largest county, geographically, in the state of California. Siskiyou County is 6300 square miles and approximately 61 percent of the land is in public ownership. The highest point of elevation is at the peak of majestic Mt. Shasta, which reaches 14,162 feet above sea level. The lowest point is located at Somes Bar and is 450 feet above sea level.
